The Smell of Christmas

Image from reader's Digest
If you were to name a flavour or smell that reminded you of Christmas would it be, the sweet smell of cinnamon? the spicy aroma of nutmeg? the peppery scent of cloves? or the citrusy sweet smell of clementine?

For me it's the coming together of all of these flavours, combined with a lingering hint of ginger to round everything festive off to a nice T. Not a gingerbread house or gingerbread man would be the same without these special spices. And where would the good old mulled wine and mulled cider be without said delicious fragrant mix? just plain ole boring wine and cider that's where. I intend to make full use of these festive seasonings to my heart content, and fill my kitchen and house with the inviting aroma wafting through to the neighbours and all who are fortunate enough to be in close sniffing proximity.

Starting off with this delicious beverage:

Ingredients
makes ~850 mls

*these are optional, leave out the brandy for a non - alcoholic beverage

Preparation

Put everything in a large enough sauce pan and boil for 10 minutes on low - medium heat.
Strain the mixture, and adjust for sweetness with honey if needed - add an orange peel and clove for decoration.

Till next time, EAT mindfully, DRINK responsibly, and EXERCISE your mind and body!!!
