The above quote pretty much sums up the way I think of the past & future, I couldn't think of anything I wish I had known 5 years ago or pretty much any of the experiences I have been through up till now.
WHAT?! Why not?
For one, very crucial reason, I would not be ME!
Well, let's put it this way, I am an over thinking, there I've said it, now can you imagine someone like me knowing what will happen to her in the future, or rewinding time to prepare myself for the ups and downs of life?
Yeah, me either! that's why I like to remain as much as possible in the here and now. Don't get me wrong I still make plans, and have dreams and aspirations, I think without these what would be the purpose of living. However, I like when I have been through an event good or bad, I learn and grow, become stronger, wiser, and appreciative of LIFE and the people I meet.
There are many life events (sitting here thinking on the subject) that I think just wouldn't be the same, I might have made changes and decide on a different path or never taken the plunge to try something new or in a different way, I would have missed out on the lessons I really needed to learn, or learnt entirely different ones.
Today's challenge is the reverse of the little talk I had with my
future self. Sometimes, whilst going through life you just need to know that you will be
OK, and the past does not define you, it simply helps you on your way.
So, for me - I think I will leave the what ifs and the has beens where they are, and just continue on my journey of life, appreciating the now and treasuring the lessons learnt along the way.
What do you think, are there things you wish you had known 5 years ago? would knowing this change what you decide to do?
Till next time, EAT mindfully, DRINK responsibly, and EXERCISE your mind and body!!!
