It's another sunny, chilly day here in the UK and day two of the
Blogtober Challenge! today as the title reads, I will be sharing a few of my favourite quotes. I have a mood and memory board in the study that contains poems, pictures, quotes, cards...basically anything that have inspired, moved me or events I've been apart of that I feel rather proud of.

I have kept a memory board for as long as I can remember, whether it was for art or fashion inspiration or exam brain joggers, there have always been something on this board. In all honesty I can't really say that I have a 'favourite quote' because I have so many, and depending on where I am on my journey of healing, wonder-lust, love, pain, disappointment, adventure, etc...they change (does that make me a quote 'whore' or hoarder?).
The first quote I will share with you is from an author, whose work I love Haruki Murakami, I have read a few of his books and 'The Wind-up Bird Chronicles' was my first. Thinking about this post the following quote was the first I remembered. It speaks a weight of truth in a few short sentences. This is what it means to me - the more time you spend harbouring hatred and malice is the more bitter and twisted you become. Don't let someone's petty indifferences lead you to a life of ill health and self destruction.

I love, love, love, 1950's era, when women were adored (feminist don't throw your bras at me! actually if they pretty or sexy throw them here!). No, really though, women were so feminine, and proud to be so. I have a few screen idols from that era but my absolute favourite is Audrey Hepburn, not only was she stunning, but she had such grace and elegance (of which I would be grateful to have even an ounce, though I try); but she also did so much for others as a humanitarian. I have two of her quotes combined here.
"I believe happy girls are the prettiest girls". This is not saying you need to be grinning all the time, but a genuine smile, one that lights up from the inside is one of the warmest ingrained human emotions even animals understand.

"The greatest victory has been to be able to live with myself, to accept my shortcomings...I'm a long way from the human (person) I'd like to be. But I've decided I'm not so bad after all".
I am one to beat myself up for not reaching the goals I have set myself, finding a stable job, not acing the job interview, disappointing those I feel believe in me and I think I don't live up to their expectations (some of this is all in my head). But whenever I come back to this quote, it makes me think about all the things I have achieved and lost sight of : choosing a different career path, going back to study, having someone I truly love and care for, having real friends, the list is endless. It just reminds me that even if it's just for today, I can be happy with knowing that I am a work in progress and have more to give and that is ok.
My last quote for you is from a poem in this book (if you look at the first image above, you'll see it typed up with my photo - oh I was so young). Can you believe I've had this book since I was 16?! (told you yesterday, book hoarder), it was given to me by one of my 'Art & Design Technology' teachers at secondary school.
"I look in the mirror and what do I see, a unique creation a winner, that's me!". I can recite the entire poem (maybe I'll put it up on a separate page for you guys), and it has helped me through some rough patches, I re-read this book whenever I need uplifting or making huge life decisions.

I have read it many times over, the spine is taped up and a few of the pages have been glued back in. But it is a keeper, if you can find it I would highly recommend it.
So, that's it for the quotes, hope you have found something in the above to inspire and uplift you wherever you are on your journey.
What do you use as a inspiration? Do you have a quote, poem or piece of art? let me know in the comments section.
Come back tomorrow, when I will be 'sharing my daily essentials'...
